Training Department

The Training Department was established in 1995 to meet the local demand for Quality Training Provision in Sport and Recreation. From these humble beginnings we now work with 150 BTEC students, a range of people wanting Exercise and Fitness Teacher Training, First Aid Training, In house staff development and Outreach Schools work.

Courses

BTEC First Diploma in Public Services: Equivalent to five GCSE grades A-C, this course is a mixture of practical and theory.
BTEC National Certificate in Public Services: Equivalent to three A levels grades A-C, this course is a mixture of practical and theory.
BTEC National Certificate in Sport: Equivalent to three A levels grades A-C, this course is a mixture of practical and theory.
Skills for Life: Courses for 16 years plus who need to improve their literacy, numeracy and ICT Skills
Gym Instructor: This course leads to the CYQ level 2 Certificate in Gym Instruction.
Exercise to Music: This course leads to the CYQ level 2 Certificate in Exercise too Music.
Circuit Training: This course leads to the CYQ level 2 Certificate in Circuit Training.
Step Choreography: This course leads to the CYQ level 2 Certificate in Step Exercise to Music.
Exercise Nutrition: This course leads to the CYQ level 2 Certificate in Exercise Nutrition.
Advanced Gym Instructor: This course leads to the CYQ level 3 Certificate in Advanced Gym Instruction.
Sports Conditioning: This course leads to the CYQ level 3 Certificate in Sports Conditioning.
Client Appraisal: This course leads to the CYQ level 3 Certificate in Client Appraisal (Fitness Assessment).
Walking: This course leads to the CYQ level 2 Certificate in Walking.
First Aid at Work: This course leads to the HSE Approved First Aid at Work Certificate.
Appointed Persons First Aid: This course leads to the HSE Approved First Aid for the Appointed Person Certificate.
